Location

Boylston, MA

Client

Developer / Civil Engineering Firm

Project Type

Commercial wastewater design

Overview

Robial designed a 4,000 GPD onsite wastewater system for a new distribution facility on a 60-acre site with no sewer access. The final system included septic tanks, a pump station, and a remote pressure-dosed soil absorption system located 1/3 mile from the building.

Challenges

01

02

Extensive site testing (36 test pits over 4 months) to locate compliant soils

Complex site geometry with shallow bedrock and wetland constraints

03

04

Fast-moving construction schedule with multiple consultants and shifting site plans

Long-distance effluent conveyance with power and controls routed back to the building

Our Approach

01

Located and permitted a remote SAS through phased testing and BOH coordination

02

Designed a full Title 5-compliant system with long-distance force main and dosing controls

03

Coordinated closely with MEP, stormwater, and site/civil teams to align grading, utilities, and plan layers

04

Performed construction inspections and start-up calibration to ensure proper operation from day one

outcomes

The system was approved and is operating as designed. Robial’s design coordination and on-site involvement helped avoid delays, resolve field changes, and deliver a reliable system under complex site conditions.
