Overview
Robial designed a stormwater management system for a 3.15-acre residential lot within the historical district of Weston, MA. The project added 4,140 square feet of impervious surface — including a 60x35 foot sports court — on steep terrain within a 100-foot wetland buffer zone. Permitting required approval from both the Weston Conservation Commission, the Stormwater Permitting Authority and Planning Board.

Because of the site’s location in a historical district, this project also required compliance with Weston’s Major Stormwater Permit, an NDA filing with the Conservation Commission, and review by the Planning Board.
Our Approach

Designed a 12-chamber subsurface infiltration system beneath the sports court to capture all added runoff

Designed a comprehensive grading plan with terraced retaining walls to maintain slope stability, preserve protected trees and meet planning board requirements

Coordinated drawings with landscape/hardscape designer to align with the aesthetic goals of the client

Participated in multiple joint site visits and review meetings with local permitting authorities to facilitate plan approval and construction
The project was approved by the Weston Stormwater Permitting Authority, Conservation Commission and Planning Board. The project did not increase stormwater runoff or create a negative impact on the nearby wetland. All protected trees were preserved, and the site was successfully built to adhere to the Planning Boards grading and planting requests.
